COMET TAV2 TORQ-A-VERTER KIT
GTC Torq-a-verter automatic clutch kit replaces Comets' famous Tav2 unit. It is the easiest way to dramatically improve the performance of your centrifugal clutch driven mini bike or go kart! This amazing system will automatically give you a low range for climbing hills and quicker acceleration, and it will give you overdrive for more top speed. It's like adding more horsepower without changing the engine. The 3/4" bore Torq-a-verter will bolt right on to most Briggs 3-5 HP and Techumseh 3-8 HP horizontal shaft engines, the 1" bore version is rated for 8-13 hp engines. Bolts right on in most applications, some applications will require notching the supplied bracket for clearance, or other modifications for chain alignment. Order your Torq-a-verter kit according to the size of your crankshaft and chain size. The Torq-a-verter kit includes the drive and driven clutches, the jackshaft and sprocket, the belt, cover mounting bracket and even the bolt for the crankshaft. Just bolt it on and go!

COMET 40 SERIES TORQUE CONVERTER
Used on the SHREDDER Go Kart, this unit easily handles 8-18 H.P.
Standard engagement 1600 rpm, up to 3100 rpm available.
40D with 7-1/2" driven unit, Ratios:Low range 2.43:1, High range 1:1
44D with 8-1/2" driven unit, Ratios: Low range 2.83:1, High range 1.24:1,
Use the formula to determine your top speed:
(.006) x (engine speed) x (wheel radius in inches)
(high speed ratio) x (other gear reduction)
For engine speed most engines are governed to 3600 rpm, radius is tire diameter divided by 2. Other gear reduction is determined by dividing number of teeth on driven sprocket by number of teeth on drive sprocket. For example if you have a 56 tooth sprocket on your axle and a 10 tooth sprocket on your jackshaft your gear reduction would be 5.6. If you had 2 jackshafts then you would figure the gear reduction for each one and multiply them by each other for the total gear reduction.
